Check and double check everything is threaded up properly before you start to knit
Place your yarn directly underneath the feeder so it can go straight up from the cone
When you hang the comb onto your knitting, make sure your knitting is in the centre of the comb for the most even take down tension
Check the yarn thickness before you put it through the machine, too thick and the machine will jam and you don’t want that
Don’t knit too fast, it will be tempting, but slow and steady always wins the race with machine knitting
When you are changing yarns, cut the yarn right by the yarn cone and tie the new yarn onto this end then simply pull the old yarn through until the new yarn is in your hand. This saves you having to rethread the machine and saves time!
Take care of the machine, keep it clean and oiled; the best oil for knitting machines is called Ballistol, made for guns but prefect to keep those machine needles moving smoothly.
When knitting a 2-colour punch-card design, using yarns that are the same thickness will give you the best results and a smooth even surface
Always knit tension swatches and keep a note of the best tension for each yarn
Relax and enjoy it!
