Lovely Leopard Formal Dress
A pretty, pink, punky number for the dressier occasions in life.

About
Hello, Cut Out & Keep! This is my first ever creation that I'd like to share with you all. (:
This was my formal dress for February '11, handmade by myself. I decided I wanted pink, and went for the leopard after falling in love with it at the fabric store. This is actually made from a heavily-altered McCalls' M5382 pattern, to suit my tastes and tallness (6ft!).
The bodice is made from cotton nursery print fabric, actually. I just couldn't resist the soft pink and spots. The band came from my stash; just some black broadcloth. The pink skirt comes courtesy of Joann Fabrics as pink faux-satin. Lined with standard lining fabric.
If you will please notice:
- The modified bustline. Sweetheart! <3
- The 19 feet of HAND (!!) gathered tulle poking out of the bottom of the skirt.
- My complete and utter refusal to use a zipper because they still intimidate me. Hot pink hook & eye tape back closure, courtesy of Shrinkle on Etsy.
- The matching fascinator-type hair bow.
- The sick, sparkly, & awesome corsage my boyfriend got me with a black rose. (:
Thank you for looking! I'd be happy to answer any/all questions and graciously accept feedback. :D
