You Will Need (8 things)

  • Red Wool
  • Twine
  • 3 Jam Jar (s)
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Lace
  • Felt
  • Paper (book of your choice)
  • Mod Podge (or PVA)

Steps (12 steps, 30 minutes)

  1. 1

Take a plain jam jar. You can either buy these or at a much cheaper price pick up a jar of savers jam from a supermarket and clean the jar out, then leave it to dry

Hot water helps soak of the label

  2. 2

For the first candle holder, take a piece of lace and glue it to the middle of the jar

  3. 3

Wrap the lace around and cut it at a point where the ends overlap, then glue it down

  4. 4

Cut out a red heart from a scrap of felt

  5. 5

Glue the heart to the front of the jar

  6. 6

Second candle holder - take another jar

  7. 7

Use the glue gun to draw the shape of a heart on your jar and then place the wool on the glue, leaving a long strip hanging down

  8. 8

Glue spirals around the jar and wrap the wool on top of it, cutting off any excess when you are finished

  9. 9

    1 more jar to go

  10. 10

Repeat the same process as the one before to glue the heart but you don't need any excess - chop that bad boy off

I tried twine for this one instead of wool, for a vintage feel to it

  11. 11

Rip up a few pages from an old book into small pieces

Use some mod modge (or PVA) to layer the pages to the jar and make sure you do a thin coat over the top as well to give it a varnished look once dried

  12. 12

So there you have it, 3 easy candle holders - but don't let that stop you, there are lots of different styles you can try out with bits and piece you can find round the house!
