About

I love lolita stuff but finding a place that sell them is hard unless you order from over sea. So I decided a year or two ago I would just make my own and learnt how to now am going to show you.

I hope you like it! :)

You Will Need (4 things)

  • Needle
  • Sewing Machine
  • Needle & Thread
  • Tape Measure

Steps (15 steps, 300 minutes)

  1. 1

First pick out the fabric you want to use. Here I used a thin white fabric with strawberry prints.

I doubled my fabric with a plain white as it was thin.

  2. 2

I drew up the pattern for the bodice. Which I included. You will need to make this larger I put the measurements on in cm as it's easiest so just enlarge it untill the pieces match the pattern.

  3. 3

Lay your pieces on to the fabric, the pieces once done will fit a size 10-12 you can add a few extra cm to make it bigger or smaller.

Make sure your center piece lable center fold is on a fold so you dont get that seam in the middle.

I added 1.5 cm seam allowance on all my pieces except the center fold line.

  4. 4

Once you cut out your pieces I find its easier to lay them out in order.

  5. 5

I find it much eaier to tack, the pieces with a needle and thread before I put it through the sewing machine and this way your fabric won't move.

  6. 6

After sewing this is what you should have.

  7. 7

Straps x2. I took a piece of fabric 10cm wide and 60cm long. Fold the fabric, right side in and sew. Turn the fabric the right way and iron flat.

  8. 8

work out where you would like the straps and pin into place downwards.

  9. 9

Using another piece of fabric cut the same shape as the bodice looks almost like a mustach. we are going to sandwhich the straps and ruffles in and tack to keep in place right side together.

  10. 10

once sewn cut the extra fabric as close as you can to the seam line. and fold over. This will give your top a neat edge the iron flat to keep in place.

  11. 11

Skirt: I used 3 meters of fabric for the skirt. Cut to desired length mine was just above the knee and then sew two lines about 1 cm apart and pull to gather. Its easier to do in 1 meter section.

Before you gather. Its easier to hem it first. fold the fabric 1cm and pin or tack and sew.

  12. 12

Spead out the gather even as you can. Then pin to match bodice.

lay the fabric flat right side up and place bodice on top right side together make sure the skirt fabric is long enough to match the bodice across the waist area.

    Then sew together.

  13. 13

now you have a neat waist line. Add bows and ruffles and a zip at the back, or play about with it. You can add more ruffles to the hem or lace and bows. I added ruffles to the straps and neckline and bows down the front.

  14. 14

I decided on a cross at the back. but you can have this straight or helter neck.

  15. 15

And your done go out and enjoy your dress. ^_^
