the peignoir is defiantly an essential for cult party kei, especially in the west. this particular one is easy to pattern, designed to be worn open to display your layering. it can also be tied around the waist for a different look. the front of the yoke can be decorated however you like, as long as its you!
the peignoir is defiantly an essential for cult party kei, especially in the west. this particular one is easy to pattern, designed to be worn open to display your layering. it can also be tied around the waist for a different look. the front of the yoke can be decorated however you like, as long as its you!
to make the pattern for the back of the yoke, fold the fabric. place your t shirt with sleeves tucked in half on and cut around to just under the armhole, leaving a seam allowance.
remove the t shirt and cut the bottom in a straight line, unfold and it should look like this.
fold the fabric again and place your back yoke on near the edge of the neck. cut around this, then cut in half for the two front pieces.
sew together at the shoulders and sides.
for the frilly cap sleeves, cut a semi circle as tall as you want your sleeve to be and hem. I used a decorative scallop stitch to finish the edge.
gather and sew into your arm hole.
topstitch the arm seams back for a clean edge.
cut a piece of fabric 2.5 times the width of the bottom of the yoke bodice, as long as you want the skirt part to be. gather to the yoke.
decide what width you want the ties to be, double it, add seam allowances. cut a long rectangle this width, fold the edges in and stitch flat.
hem the entire edge of the peignoir, inserting the ties into the hem around where yoke meets skirt.
finally, decorate your front yoke to your own personal taste. I added old buttons, scrap fabric and ribbon bows for a cute look with bold splashes of red.
