I had no idea what I was going to make when I first picked out my favourite colours of yarn from the Brown Sheep Company but as soon as I saw the gorgeous purple and green skeins in person, I knew they'd look amazing as a mermaid camisole.
I had no idea what I was going to make when I first picked out my favourite colours of yarn from the Brown Sheep Company but as soon as I saw the gorgeous purple and green skeins in person, I knew they'd look amazing as a mermaid camisole.
Shells (Make 2) Chain 2 Row 1: chain 1, sc increase six times into the 2nd chain from the hook. (6 stitches) Row 2: chain 1, sc into the back of each stitch. Row 3: chain 1, sc into 1st stitch, sc increase into next stitch *repeat to end of row. Row 4: chain 1, sc into the back of each stitch. (9 stitches) Row 5: chain 1, sc into 1st stitch, sc increase into next stitch *repeat to end of row. Row 6: chain 1, sc into the back of each stitch. (12 stitches) Row 7: chain 1, sc into 1st stitch, sc increase into next stitch *repeat to end of row. Row 8: (17 stitches) Row 9: chain 1, sc into 1st stitch, sc increase into next stitch *repeat to end of row. Row 10: (25 stitches)
Add a scalloped edging to the top of each shells: Row 1: Crochet one row using green yarn along the top of each shell. Chain 1.
Row 2: Miss 1 stitch, 5 dc in next stitch, miss 1 stitch, sc in next stitch and repeat to the end of row.
Bind off.
Add a scalloped edge to the bottom of the shells using the purple yarn.
Bind off leaving long purple tails at the end of each shell.
Position the shells on your camisole and pin in place.
Using a yarn needle, stitch the shells to the camisole using the long purple tails.
Middle of the shells Chain 8, Chain 1, turn sc into each. Bind off leaving a long tail.
Stitch the shell middle in between the two shells using the long tail and a yarn needle.
Using green yarn, begin crocheting a really long chain.
Use the yarn needle, threaded with green yarn to begin stitching the long crochet chain in a scalloped pattern beneath the shells.
Continue making scalloped rows with the green yarn and stitching in place.
Sew in all your loose edges and then you're all done!
