Bee Movie! Seinfeld! We just had to see it, and you know how it goes . . . I just ?had to make some bees. Make a few more baby bees and hang them from the ?Branch Mobile or use them in a Stroller Toy; I bet you they’d look really cute!

You Will Need (5 things)

  • Worsted-weight Yarn in white, yellow, 
and black
  • G/6 (4 mm) Crochet Hook
  • Fiberfill or stuffing of your choice
  • 9 mm plastic Eyes with safety backings
  • Black Embroidery Floss and tapestry needle

Steps (7 steps, 120 minutes)

  1. 1

    Mommy Bee
    Head
    Using black yarn,
    R1: Ch 2, sc 6 in second ch from hook.
    R2: Sc 2 in each sc around. (12 sts)
    R3: *Sc 1, 2 sc in next sc*, rep 6 times. ?(18 sts)
    R4: *Sc 2, 2 sc in next sc*, rep 6 times. ?(24 sts)
    R5: *Sc 3, 2 sc in next sc*, rep 6 times. ?(30 sts)
    R6: *Sc 4, 2 sc in next sc*, rep 6 times. ?(36 sts)
    R7 and 8: Sc 36.
    Change to yellow,
    R9–15: Sc 36.
    R16: *Sc 4, dec 1*, rep 6 times. (30 sts)
    R17: Sc 30.
    Work on face: Position and attach eyes; embroider mouth.
    R18: *Sc 3, dec 1*, rep 6 times. (24 sts)
    R19: *Sc 2, dec 1*, rep 6 times. (18 sts)
    R20: *Sc 1, dec 1*, rep 6 times. (12 sts)
    Stuff head.
    R21: *Sk 1 sc, sc 1*, rep 6 times. (6 sts)
    Fasten off and weave in end.

    Body
    Starting with black yarn, alternate 1 ?rnd yellow and 1 rnd black to end ?of body.
    R1: Ch 2, sc 6 in second ch from hook.
    R2: Sc 6.
    R3: Sc 2 in each sc around. (12 sts)
    R4: Sc 12.
    R5: *Sc 1, 2 sc in next sc*, rep 6 times. ?(18 sts)
    R6: Sc 18.
    R7: *Sc 2, 2 sc in next sc*, rep 6 times. ?(24 sts)
    R8–15: Sc 24.
    Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing. Stuff and sew to head.

    Wings
    Make 4.
    Using white yarn,
    R1: Ch 2, sc 6 in second ch from hook.
    R2: Sc 2 in each sc around. (12 sts)
    R3–9: Sc 12.
    R10: Dec 6 times. (6 sts)
    R11: Sc 6.
    Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing. Sew open end tog and sew 2 wings to each side of body.

    Little Bee
    Head
    Using black yarn,
    R1: Ch 2, sc 6 in second ch from hook.
    R2: Sc 2 in each sc around. (12 sts)
    R3: *Sc 1, 2 sc in next sc*, rep 6 times. ?(18 sts)
    R4: *Sc 2, 2 sc in next sc*, rep 6 times. ?(24 sts)
    R5: *Sc 3, 2 sc in next sc*, rep 6 times. ?(30 sts)
    R6 and 7: Sc 30.
    Change to yellow,
    R8–13: Sc 30.
    R14: *Sc 3, dec 1*, rep 6 times. (24 sts)
    R15: Sc 24.
    Work on face: Position and attach eyes, embroider mouth.
    R16: *Sc 2, dec 1*, rep 6 times. (18 sts)
    R17: *Sc 1, dec 1*, rep 6 times. (12 sts)
    Stuff head.
    R18: *Sk 1 sc, sc 1*, rep 6 times. (6 sts)
    Fasten off and weave in end.

    Body
    Starting with black yarn, alternate 1 rnd yellow and 1 rnd black to end of body.

    R4: Sc 12.
    R5: *Sc 1, 2 sc in next sc*, rep 6 times. (18 sts)
    R6–11: Sc 18.
    Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing. Stuff and sew to head.

    Wings
    Make 4.
    Using white yarn,
    R1: Ch 2, sc 5 in second ch from hook.
    R2: Sc 2 in each sc around. (10 sts)
    R3–6: Sc 10.
    R7: Dec 5 times. (5 sts)
    R8: Sc 5.
    Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing. Sew open end tog and sew 2 wings to each side of body.

  7. 7

    Finishing
    Antennae: For mommy, join black yarn to one side of head in first row of black above yellow. Ch 6, fasten off, and weave in end. Rep on other side. For little bee, repeat as for mommy but ch 4 instead of 6.
