As I've mentioned, I love shoes, which sometimes leads me me to *ahem* rash purchases. For example these lovely platform/peeptoe/leopard print/stilletoes. All the qualities that makes a shoe, well. perfect in my humble opinion. Add to that they where the last pair in the shop, that they where on sale, and they where in fact FIVE POUNDS, I had to buy them. Only one complication. They're a size 6, where I'm a size 5. No matter, I thought. Heel sizes are a bit different I tried to tell myself, I'll make them fit. Wrong. Short of stuffing the backs with loo roll (which YOU KNOW would trail out mortifyingly at an inconvienent time and place) I was stuck. They hung on my shoe rack for months, imploring me to wear them until I happened to remember, the night before my friends birthday, that SHE was indeed a size 6! I would make them shiny and give them to her! I did have an hour of turmoil, not wanting to relinquish the beautiful shoes. But it was For The Greater Good, for I could never wear them. Sorry about lack of making pictures, I did this in haste in the early hours. It took me this long through trial, error and tantrums, if you are a serene person you could probably do it faster.

firstly, chose the lucky pair of shoes, make sure they're clean etc. Decide on material most suitable or desirable. You will need more of this than you think. I happened to have a large offcut of leatherette. Gather all materials to hand and clear a working space because you will have to work quickly.
Make a bow for the front of each shoe. I did this by cutting two rectangles of leatherette, putting them wrong sides together and sewing around three edges. I then turned it right way out and carefully stitched the other side up, so the join couldn't be seen. I then cut a strip of same fabric and tied it tightly round the middle of the rectangle so it pulls it in. This creates a sort of 'padded' bow. However you could use any sort of bow you wish. Stitch the bow onto the front of your shoes.
Cut long thin strips of your chosen fabric. You are going to glue these around the 'mouth' of your shoe, but first important safety advice: glueing yourself together with superglue is not cool, it hurts. I reccomend having some acetone nail varnish remover on standby from prior experience. work quickly, and be sparing with the glue, you're gonna need loads! Glue one end of the strip to the shoe, starting at the back. Make a little loop, glue it to the shoe etc, if you don't know what I mean have a close look at the picture and you should be able to see what I did.
Keep doing it! Overlap to cover joins, I did it round the peeptoe too. I know its fiddly but its worth it. You can't see it but I made a small bow for the back too, to cover the main joins.
Now all you have to do is cover a shoe-box to put your lovelies in (I chose pink. If you do give them as a gift make sure you wrap them in matching tissue paper. You can't just throw them in a tesco bag) and you've done it! Hurrah! Big cups of tea for you!
