We all have some old leather jackets or bags that we don't use anymore. You can make tons of stuff out of them. I torn my father's old leather jacket some time ago and still had some left over leather so I decided to make a clutch. Do you want to try to make one? It's easy, really!

We all have some old leather jackets or bags that we don't use anymore. You can make tons of stuff out of them. I torn my father's old leather jacket some time ago and still had some left over leather so I decided to make a clutch. Do you want to try to make one? It's easy, really!

Instructions

  1. Small 7 2b22 2b09 2b002

You will start with two identical pieces - one leather piece and one lining.

Determine where the sides of your clutch will end - mark it with a pen. Sew the pieces together (wrong side out) only around the closure part and the opposite side like it's shown in the photo below.

When you turn it the right side out it should look like this.

Turn it the wrong side out again and fold it as shown on the photo below. You will need to sew the sides of leather pieces and then the sides of the lining (just one side of the lining actually).

It should look like this. Sorry for the blurry photo.

Turn it the right side out.

  7. Small screen shot 2012 05 28 at 21.46.26

Close the opening in the lining.

When you insert the lining inside the clutch it's going to look like this. Not really complete look, right?

Sew all around along the edge. I secured it on the right side to keep the clutch closed when not in use. Done. Of course you are welcome to decorate it any way you'd like. I chose it leave it as it is - I like the look of natural leather and the pattern of the lining.
