About

This method creates a ladder-shaped lace filling. Its simplicity and light finish make this stitch a popular choice for both open work and edge stitching. Use a tapestry or blunt-ended needle for this technique.

You Will Need (2 things)

  • Needle
  • Thread

Steps (3 steps, 15 minutes)

  1. 1

Using a base of Hedebo buttonhole stitch, insert the needle a few stitches along, from back to front (three stitches away in this example).

  2. 2

Pull the thread to create a loop. Insert the needle into the loop from back to front.

  3. 3

Pull the thread to complete one stitch. The method is the same as Hedebo buttonhole stitch. The difference is in the spacing.
