I found a simple drawing of a "bird's eye view" of a sneaker via a google search. I printed the image out and used it as a paper template for the tote. I removed the laces from the original image. Next, I traced the sneakers onto my bag with a pencil.
Use permanent markers to color in the sneaker shapes. Then use awl (or other pointy tool) to carefully poke a row of 6 “lacing” holes through the canvas front on either side of the sneakers. Be careful to avoid poking your tool all the way through the back of the bag. The holes should only go through the first layer of canvas.
Take your cording or shoe laces, add a little clear tape on the ends to make it easier to lace through the holes. Poke the cording through the holes and lace up your sneakers. Now get yourself off to the gym in style!
