About

I love lace and ribbon and I have loads of bits that I've collected. As it is beginning to be more springlike I wanted a lighter scarf so decided to put those lengths of lace to good use. I chose white as I could only get the pom-pom trim in white but you can use any colour you fancy.

  1. 1

Start off by laying out your lengths of lace and choosing a pleasing arrangement. You can make your scarf as long and wide as you want.

  2. 2

I had one long strip of lace and one piece that wasn't quite as long, so I attached more lace to that shorter piece to make it as long as the first piece. Cut all your pieces of lace to the right length. My scarf is about 1.65m.

  3. 3

Sew your strips of lace together lengthways to make your scarf.

  4. 4

Sew your trim around the edges of the scarf, turning under any raw edges to stop them fraying (these will be at the ends of your scarf.) I got this cute pom-pom trim from my local haberdashery, make sure you buy enough to right the way round your scarf!

I had this cool lace with eyelets, I sewed a length to each of my main strips of lace and then used very thin satin ribbon to lace the two together for an extra pretty look. The lacing is mostly decoative as I had already sewn the pieces together at the ends when I added my pom-pom trim.
