This is an even simpler version of my Lace and Tulle Bustle Skirt. I almost never wear white (or sew white!) but I wanted something to wear with this great corset I had, so I made this skirt. This skirt uses a pattern, Simplicity 9966. Its a costume pattern. But if you make a simple long full circle skirt you wouldn't even need a pattern. Basically you can attach this tulle bustle train to ANY skirt. But if you use 9966, I would make one tweak: it calls for a center front seam, which I think is TACKY in a skirt. So I cut the front piece as one on the fold instead of as 2 sewn together. This is a very comfortable elastic waist. The tulle bustle train is 5 tiers instead of the original 7, and instead of being truly tiered, all the pieces are simply cut at the same width but at the desired lengths, basted together at the top as one whole piece, gathered at the top as one whole piece, then sewn onto the back of the Jaquard skirt and the stitching embellished with a small ribbon oversew. To dress up the plain jane hem I sewed a nice bit of ribbon trim around the bottom. This skirt SELF BUSTLES (no pad needed! YEA!) really nicely when you wear it with a corset, and in these photos, I'm not even fully cinched and you can see the bustle effect.(This particular corset is difficult to get into and really requires a 2 person cinch and no one else was home at the time). Very easy project for either a Victorian/Steampunk/Gothic look, or a wedding ensemble on the cheap.
