Dodalalalalalalalala!

About

I needed a case to protect my new Gen. 4 iPod touch, but I couldn't find any that I really liked and I recently became a HUGE fan of the YuGiOh Abridged series so I wanted to make one myself. I also kind of wanted to run around with it singing "Dodalalalala!" through my house. >w

You Will Need (9 things)

  • Thread
  • Hot Glue
  • Tacky Glue
  • Hard Plastic Case For I Pod/I Phone/I Pad/Etc.
  • Green Felt
  • 1 Fur Fabric http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/medium-brown-long-pile-craft-fur-292821/
  • Light Purple Felt
  • 1 Purple Felt
  • Stiff Yellow Felt

Steps (16 steps, 210 minutes)

  1. 1

Find a good hard plastic one that "looks nice, and not too expensive." (Monty Python quote. lol.) I got one that was about $12 at my Walmart. I tried to find one in black, but the closest thing was purple. Although, I do really like the way it turned out with the purple.

  2. 2

Draw a box using a pen around your iPod case on the back of the fur fabric with enough room to go on the sides as well.

  3. 3

Cut out your rectangle of fur fabric. Next, you want to put the case in the middle of the fabric and trace the hole where the camera would be.

  4. 4

Cut out the camera hole you traced.

  5. 5

Now draw on stiff or cardboard paper an oval-ish circle and trace that onto the stiff yellow felt twice.

  6. 6

Cut out the oval-ish circles and the case should look like this so far.

  7. 7

Using the same cutout for the oval-ish circles, cut out a circle with a triangle indent in it and trace it onto your purple felt. These circles will be the irises of the Kuriboh.

  8. 8

Cut out your irises and the case should now look like this. (They are not glued on or attached in any way just yet.)

  9. 9

Now from the cut out for the irises, make an even smaller circle for the pupils and trace and cut them out on the light purple felt.

  10. 10

Next for the paws. Make a teardrop shape onto your cardboard paper and cut off the tip of the teardrop. Trace this onto some green felt 8 times or fold over the felt and trace and cut it along the edge 4 times.

  11. 11

Kuriboh needs some claws. Now make a small rectangle that almost matches the width of the paws and cut 2 triangle indents into it. You might also want to cut diagonally on the corners to make 3 claws on each paw. Do this 4 times.

  12. 12

Now with right sides together of the green paws, insert the yellow stiff felt claws with a bit of it sticking out. Sew the paw on all sides except for the flat edge. Cut along the rounded edges so it's easier to turn the paws right side out. Turn the paws right side out and sew the flat edges closed. (If you're making this for an iPad or whatever you might want to add some stuffing into the paws first, but since this is for an iPod, the paws are already thick enough.) Now clip the yellow felt a little more to look more like toes/claws. *Don't worry about sewing the flat edges closed with a "ladder stitch" or whatever. The fur will hide the sewn edge.*

  13. 13

Sew the Yellow and Purple Felt eye parts to the fur fabric (in the middle of the eyes) and tie it off. Then hot glue the Light Purple felt to the Purple Felt to both hide the sewing and to attach the pupils to the irises.

  14. 14

Use a needle (or a comb) to part the fur where you'll be sewing the paws. The upper paws should start just under the eyes and then the bottom paws should end just before the bottom of the fur.

  15. 15

Glue the fur fabric to the case using Tacky Glue on all sides except where the on/off button and the volume button is. After the glue dries, Trim the fabric down to the egdes of the case and cut a hole for the on/off button much like when we cut out a hole for the camera. Glue down the rest of the fur fabric to the case and let it dry.

  16. 16

In the picture for step 15, I had already trimmed the fur to show the paws more and around the hole for the camera so it wouldn't hinder the camera's funcions. And you're done! Ain't he cute?!
