Description

Instructions

  1. Small 115906 2f2017 02 18 104028 img 4849

Sketch your own drawing of hands knitting or use my one for your template.

  2. Small 115906 2f2017 02 18 104047 img 4851

Trace the hands onto clear shrink plastic.

  3. Small 115906 2f2017 02 18 104054 img 4852

Start by sketching the outline in pencil.

  4. Small 115906 2f2017 02 18 104124 img 4854

Use a darker pencil to add shading.

  5. Small 115906 2f2017 02 18 104139 img 4856

Use a fine liner to trace over the outlines and shading hatches.

  6. Small 115906 2f2017 02 18 104206 img 4858

Take a black sharpie and use to add the darkest shadows.

  7. Small 115906 2f2017 02 18 104236 img 4860

To add some extra shading, add the shadows in black sharpie and then use your finger to smudge the ink inwards, blending away as you go.

  8. Small 115906 2f2017 02 18 104243 img 4862

Use a metallic pen to colour in the knitting needles and nails. I used pink for the nails and gold for the needles.

  9. Small 115906 2f2017 02 18 104253 img 4892

    Leave your drawing to dry.

  10. Small 115906 2f2017 02 18 104319 img 4894

Carefully cut around the outline of your drawing, using a cutting knife to remove the gaps between the hands and the needles.

  11. Small 115906 2f2017 02 18 104330 img 4895

Use a hole punch to punch a hole at the top of either arm.

  12. Small 115906 2f2017 02 18 104348 img 4896

Shrink down the necklace in a hot oven until small and then press flat under a book.

  13. Small 115906 2f2017 02 18 104400 img 5131

When cool, gather your crochet hook and wire.

  14. Small 115906 2f2017 02 18 104411 img 5133

Tie one end of the wire around a knitting needle and then use the crochet hook to crochet a chain.

  15. Small 115906 2f2017 02 18 104427 img 5136

Make a chain long enough to reach the other hand and then tie around the second needle.

  16. Small 115906 2f2017 02 18 104439 img 5137

    Crochet another row or two.

  17. Small 115906 2f2017 02 18 104450 img 5138

Tie off the wire, looping it over and under the needles and fingers a few times to look like knitting.

  18. Small 115906 2f2017 02 18 104507 img 5141

Attach a jump ring to either arm.

  19. Small 115906 2f2017 02 18 104521 img 5149

Attach to a necklace chain and you're done!
