About

You can make the kitty with any yarn you like, using needles that give you a very firm gauge so that the filling does not show through the fabric. The entire kitty is knit in stockinette stitch.

If you run into problems feel free to ask.

You Will Need (6 things)

  • Stuffing (you could use yarn)
  • Embroidery Thread
  • Ribbon
  • any size Knitting Needles
  • heart shaped Bead(s)
  • Crochet Hook

Steps (9 steps, 70 minutes)

  1. 1

    BODY:
Cast on 20 sts. knit untill you have a square. Cast off all stitches

    HEAD:

Cast on 8 sts. knit untill you have a square, count the rows and knit the amount of rows again so the square will become twice the size now you will have a rectangular shape. Cast off all stitches.

  2. 2

    BODY:
facing wrong side fold the square in half, sew top and bottom closed.

  3. 3

Fold it open and align the two corners. Sew the corners (now in the middle of the square) together and sew one of the two gaps leaving one open for the stuffing.

Stuff the body and close the gap.

  4. 4

Shape the body a little bit and if necessary adjust the paws by sewing them together near the middle of the square.

  5. 5

    HEAD:
Fold it in half and sew one side of the head closed. The fold is going to be the top of the head.
With your finger tips decide at what point you want the ear to start and end.

Sew a small stitch from beginning to end of the ear.

Repeat this with the other side of the head.

With embroidery thread and needle create the eyes and nose.

    Stuff the head.

With double thread gather around all the stitches at the bottom of the head. Pull up tightly and secure

  6. 6

Attach the head to the body.

  7. 7

    TAIL:
You could knit an I-cord however I tried something I thought more fitting for this cat.

  8. 8

Grab a small piece of ribbon and tie a big knot at the end.

(I threaded a big heart shaped bead onto it as well as a sign of love)

  9. 9

Poke your crochet hook through the knitted stitches through the kitty's back near the neck and down its belly. From the belly pull the ribbon through, you might have to twist it a bit. Make sure when pulling, the knot does not leave the back of the kitty.

    And you're done!
