  • Step 1

Get an unwanted Kellogg's Cereal box.
With the help of a pair of mathematical compasses, cut circles of RADII 4.5 cm, 4.0cm, 3.5cm, 3.0cm, 2.5cm, 2.0cm and 1.5cm

    Step 2

Cut slits of around 1cm all around the circumference.

  • How to make a christmas tree. Kellogg's Xmas Tree - Step 3
    Step 3

Poke a hole through the centre of the circles. Using the hole as a guide, cut a small X at the centre with a penknife. Slowly enlarge the circle with the tip of a pencil.

Bear in mind that the size of the hole should be no bigger than the diameter of the straw that you will be using.

    Step 4

Your circles should look like this when stacked together on the straw. The circles should fit snugly on the straw if you didn't cut the holes too big.

  • Step 5

Trace the size of the bottle cap (which is going to be the pot of the xmas tree) on the cereal box.

Repeat Step 3 only for this circle

    Step 6

Position the circles nicely at one end of the straw.Cut long slits of about 4cm at the other end of the straw.

    Step 7

Stick a small volume of Blue Tack, plasticine or even sticky tape at the centre of the straw where the long slits stop.

  • How to make a christmas tree. Kellogg's Xmas Tree - Step 8
    Step 8

Stick the straw to the centre of the bottom of the bottle cap.

Try using long slender items like pencils to help you in this step.

    Step 9

Add stuffings of unwanted paper into the "pot". Tear lengths of used, unwanted paper, then twist them lengthwise. Try joining the twisted paper into a circle and stuff it in the bottle cap.

If you have plasticine around your house, use it instead! I think it's definitely a better material for support.

  • How to make a christmas tree. Kellogg's Xmas Tree - Step 10
    Step 10

After the bottle cap is stuffed full, stack the circle cut to the circumference of the bottle cap on top.

You can add a little glue to stick the cereal box circle to the cap.

  • How to make a christmas tree. Kellogg's Xmas Tree - Step 11
    Step 11

Apply glue to the area where the straw and the cereal box meets to secure the xmas tree.

  • How to make a christmas tree. Kellogg's Xmas Tree - Step 12
    Step 12

When the glue is completely dried, snip the remainder of the straw at the top.

Embellish your upcycled xmas tree with stars, ribbons and glitters!

Haha, no wonder my circles are way too small! I thought you meant those measurements in step one as the circles' diameters! Durr =P

hey! well you can make them really big if u want to! just cut circles of bigger radii! hmmm i guess if u wanna hang them on ur paper chains you gotta omit the pot. the pot id gonna add some weight to the xmas tree and it may be pulling o your paper chains a lil too much.

i think u can try making circles with radii of 1.0cm to 3.0cm (just 5 levels) for small ones to go along with your paper chains.

do let me know if it all worked out fine! (^_^)
