Sweeter and with more tomato flavor than Texas-style sauce, Kansas City’s version is also less spicy and much thicker. Despite not being Texan, it’s still delicious.

Makes about 3 cups

You Will Need (10 things)

  • 2 cup Ketchup
  • ¼ White Onion , grated
  • 2 Garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • ½ cup Brown Sugar
  • 3/10 cup Distilled White Vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Yellow Mustard
  • 1 tbsp Molasses
  • ½ tsp Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • ¼ tsp Ground Cayenne Pepper

    Combine all ingredients in a medium heavy-bottomed pot. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 30 minutes, until flavors have melded. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
