Choose what you'll be putting your beads on... I've used purple elasticated cord from Hobby Craft. Waxed Cord, Fishing Wire, Hemp Cord etc would also be good to use but this tutorial will be with Purple Elasticated ^_^
Measure how long you want your necklace to be, by measuring it around your neck or the neck of someone in the same room if possible. It would be easier if you are able to see generally how long you'd like the necklace to be. Once you've chosen the length, remember that an amount of the space will be taken up by knotting & plaiting, you would also need small lengths at the back for the clasp to be attached. cut the length, measure it next to the ball/wheel you took it from & cut off another two or three the same length.
Tie a Knot in the end, leaving enough space for a clasp or room to tie... Since I'm using elasticated cord I'm able to stretch it which gives me tighter knots, more room for beads & I think it's easier to work with.
Choose your beads I have quite a selection here... I make a general selection or keep my bead boxes open & choose as I go along, it's your choice what you do here really Please remember that the beads you choose will need to be able to fit on your chord, check the width of their holes by eye. Glass beads have talc in the middle & can be filed a little wider (try not to crack them) which I did with necklace one...
Right, I don't have a clamp with me so I'll be using my jewellery-wire box as the clamp... Begin to plait & knot your cord &
The first bead should go a little way away from the primary knot at the end just in case it wants to try slipping off :) remember, if you like any particular of the beads, save those for the middle so they can be seen clearly when it's being worn. Thread your first bead, adding it to one of your 3 strands, sliding it to the end of your plaiting, do a little knot at the bottom of the bead to secure its place, then continue... do some more knotting & add beads where you think it 'feels/looks right' ^_^

a little while later.... tie a knot in the remaining end & choose whether you want to tie together or add a clasp
string the clasp along one of the elastic strands, tie it in & tie it tight so the knot is small, do the same for the rest of the remaining strands on that side repeat this action with the other side & remaining clasp. clip any straggly ends from around the clasp
& Finally Tadaaa Complete Please be aware that this piece made for the tutorial is actually a birthday present, the one I made in jewellery class was already completed ^_^ a birthday present for an eccentric Christian Artist I see every weekend :) great friend & I know she'll love it
