This project is inspired by a Jennifer Behr headband I saw a while ago in a magazine. It was so pretty and funky but also cost a whopping $850! From what I know this headband is not even made anymore but I knew I could make it cheaper and with the same swarovski stones used in the original. It's still not the cheapest headband (I spent $30+ for the stones alone) but it is definitely a bargain compared to $850. =) One thing to note is I know it is really tempting to replace the swarovski crystals with cheap rhinestones since most come in the same shapes. But don't!! The reason why this headband is so pretty is because of the way it sparkles when you see it in person. Rhinestone will not have this effect!

Here are all the materials needed.
The stones I bought at fusionbeads.com because they were reasonably priced and they offer free shipping with no minimum!
Ok so start by thread the needle with the ivory thread and put the needle about half an inch in an a quarter of the way down the ribbon.
Use the needle with the ribbon attached and tack it to the headband so that about half the width of the ribbon is sticking down from the bottom of the headband.
Tack it down really well so it won't come off. It doesn't matter if it is messy because it will all be covered up in a second. =)
Fold the bottom the of the ribbon over the end of the headband and start carefully wrapping up the headband.
When you get about halfway done wrapping, finish up the wrapping by doing it more messily. This will be the side that the stones are on so it looks cool that way!
When at the end again have the ribbon hang past the end of the headband. Fold the hanging part in and wrap the remaining ribbon up.
When there is about half an inch of ribbon left, fold in the end and either tack it down with thread of glue with craft glue, whichever is easier.
No the fun part! Pick one side to put all your crystals on and start sewing on the stones.
Make a base with the stones going in different directions.
Then start piling them on top of each other still going in all directions.
Keep doing this until you have used up all the stones you bought and then you are all done!! =)
