A DIY version of J.Crew's One-of-a-Kind necklace, which sold for $795
The inspiration necklace from the j.crew Fall 2009 catalogue. Only one was made.
Cut bib from white felt. Use fabric glue or machine sew ribbons to bib. (I chose white ribbon rather than the pink of the inspiration necklace.)
Cut a slightly smaller bib shape from thin plastic such as from a takeout container. Attach to felt with fabric glue.
Cut a second bib in fabric or felt. Arrange pins or earring backs on bib. (I used vintage pins inherited from my grandmother.)
Pin the brooches to the bib. Glue the front and back of the bib together using fabric glue or spray adhesive.
To give the neckace a more organic shape, I glued small leaf shapes cut from extra ribbon.
The necklace can be dressed up or down. Total cost to make was about $1.
