my usual bag was falling to pieces so i decided to make my next one instead of buying it... ^_^ i already had everything apart from the belts, so that's why the budget says almost nothing unfortunately, i didn't take photos as i was going along because i didn't think of making it into a how-to until just now...sorry, everyone :-/ also, i actually cut the material a lot bigger at first but then realised that i wanted a smaller bag, so there was a lot of fudging it in the beginning...O.o
my usual bag was falling to pieces so i decided to make my next one instead of buying it...
- first, cut 2 pieces each of the material and lining, mine ended up being 14" by 12" - then, i cut one of the legs off the pair of tights, cut it in half and pin each piece to the outside of the material (i put mine a third of the way down from the top)
- then pin and sew the 2 sides and bottom of the material pieces right sides together leaving the top open (my seam allowance was 5/8th of an inch,i then sewed 1/4" away to reinforce the seams) - next, i sewed the 2 bottom corners flat to give the bag a more "rounded" feel to it - repeat this step with the lining
- i put the 2 belts together and as i wanted a longer strap, cut the ends off - i then sewed it to the top of the material at the side seams - i attached the button to the front of the bag
- i attached the zip to the top of the bag as well - finally, i put the lining into the bag and slip-stitched it to the zip - and voila!! my new bag
