Did you know that Italian hot chocolate is different? The first thing that comes to my mind whenever I think of hot chocolate is its creaminess, but I was surprised to find out that hot chocolate is completely liquid outside Italy, and not as thick as the one I am used to drink where I live. I am going to show you how to make the typical hot chocolate made in Italy. It's very easy and fast to make, and very similar to the American recipe, except for one simple ingredient that makes the difference! :) Its creaminess is what I love the most about it and I'm sure you'll love it too! And by the way, this is NOT pudding! ;)

Put 2 teaspoons of cocoa powder in a small container.
Add 2 teaspoons of sugar. You can put more sugar depending on your taste.
Add a teaspoon of potato starch (or corn starch).
Mix everything together trying to remove all possible lumps.
Prepare 125ml (1/2 cup) of milk and pour a little bit where the other ingredients are. Mix everything together to obtain a smooth chocolate cream.
Add the rest of the milk and mix again.
Put the mix on the stove and start to stir it keeping a medium flame. Don't stop stirring so that it doesn't stick to the container.
When the chocolate is hot enough it will get darker and thicker. Turn the stove off as soon as you see that it's getting thick. Don't make it too thick, it must still be liquid enough so that you can drink it.
Pour your chocolate in a cup. The more you keep it on the stove the thicker it will get, so make sure not to leave it long. The chocolate keeps cooking even when the stove is off because the liquid is very hot. Your Italian style hot chocolate is ready now! Enjoy it!!
