You Will Need (5 things)

  • 15 yd Dk Yarn
  • 16 in circular Knitting Needles US 6/4mm
  • 1 Hair Elastic
  • 1 Stitch Marker
  • 1 Tapestry Needle

Steps (5 steps, 120 minutes)

  1. 1

Note: Cast on loosely using Long Tail Cast On. Use US 6/4mm 16” circular needles. (See Alternatives for other options).

    CO 78 sts

Work in Stockinette until work measures ~ 4” (~26 rounds)

BO loosely as if to K

Break Yarn leaving a tail ~18-24” for seaming

  2. 2

Turn your knit tube so that the WS is on the outside. Place the elastic hair tie on the outside of the knit tube (against the WS). Fold the outside edges towards each other so RS is now facing up.

  3. 3

Seam the RS edges together using Horizontal Invisible Seam Stitch. Be sure the elastic stays on the inside of the scrunchy, (this is difficult at first, make sure the stitches are lined up correctly).

  4. 4

BO the last stitch and weave in ends, (tie a knot with the other yarn tail and use the needle to pull through to the inside of the scrunchy).
Twist the seam to the inside of the scrunchy.

  5. 5

Wear the scrunchy on your wrist as a bracelet or wrap in your hair.
