"I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings." Applique Hoodie

I'm a big fan of Maya Angelou whose work inspired this hoodie.

I found this awesome plum hoodie at Goodwill for $4. I machine-appliquéd the bird in the birdcage and the branch with fabric that my Godmother handed down to me. I also handstitched the details on the hood and handpainted the text on the front with acrylic paint and textile medium.
