This is how I do it. :)I think its better and safer, because this way there is no danger of the paint overflowing and getting under the stencil. Also its much quicker.
All my stenciled projects are made this way.
Hope it helps. :)

You Will Need (3 things)

  • Acrylic Paint
  • Sponge
  • Stencil

Steps (7 steps, 20 minutes)

  1. 1

    Get everything you will need:
    1.acrylic paint or fabric paint
2.a sponge (I just get one of those dish washing sponges and cut a piece from it)
3.something to put your paint on (I use a plastic ice-cream lid here)

  2. 2

Get a piece of paper and put it inside your shirt. You don't want to get paint on the back of the shirt.

  3. 3

Squeeze some paint on what ever your using as a "plait".

  4. 4

If its easier for you, tape your stencil on the shirt. With smaller stencils i just hold it in place with my other hand.

  5. 5

Dip the sponge in to the paint and start stenciling by pressing it gently on the shirt.

  6. 6

Wait for the paint to dry and remove the stencil.

  7. 7

Wait for a few minutes, just to be sure the paint is dry for sure and your stenciled shirt is done! :)
