I've had this since I was a kid, and I used to use it for my hair. But then it just sat there. Then while browsing joann fabrics, I found something exactly like it, but to make cording. I figured it would work well. And it did.
Take your thread, and depending on how many rungs are on the twister, that is how many lengths you should cut of thread. you may cut doubles or triples of each length. It all depends on how much bulk you want.
put the threads into the little thread holder hooks.
You might want to tie a knot before you put it onto the holder.
Twist away, following the instructions on the braider. Or pushing the button up, then down (in my case).
After twisting, you will have cording. I used thin thread, but the thicker the better. Cotton/ un-slippery thread works best.
If you do not want it to unravel easily, you can dampen the thread before you twist it. Or, after you twist it, you can take some wax and coat it by rubbing it over the wax.
you can also make embroidery floss. Just experiment. Use different colors for each strand, etc. :D Have fun!
