Description

Use life saver candies and jelly beans to make tiny pacifiers to use as decorations, food toppers or as an edible party food.

Instructions

Put 10 white (vanilla) candy melt wafers in a plastic sandwich bag and microwave them for 60 seconds. Squish the melted candy wafers together into one corner of the sandwich bag. Cut a teeny hole in the corner of the bag. Pipe a line of the melted wafers around the hole of a white life saver.

Immediately after piping the melted wafer on the white life saver place a jelly bean vertically on top of the life saver. The "jelly beans" in this photo are actually "jelly bellys" . Jelly Bellys are smaller than jelly beans and if you can find them at a candy store, you can buy them all in one color. They are more expensive than jelly beans, however. Let these set up for at least fifteen minutes before moving to the next step.

Pipe a blob of melted candy wafers from the bag into the hole of the life saver of the top part of the candy pacifier that you made in step 2. Immediately place another life saver vertically into the new blob of melted wafer. After adding the second life saver, the candy pacifier needs to stay upright for about a minute to set up.

If you don't have helpers that can hold the candy pacifier upright while it sets (since you probably don't want to take the time out from the project to do it...I know I didn't) you can set the pacifiers upright in a bowl of dried beans. If your bag of melted candy wafers get a little hard during the construction process, you can microwave it for a few more seconds and get it soft again. If you are making a lot of the candy pacifiers change out the sandwich bag every once in a while or the bag will pop open on the side and melted candy will come out in a big blob...I know.

Here are candy pacifiers made with jelly bellys (grapefruit flavor has a similar color to real pacifiers).

Here are pacifiers made with a bag of multi-colored regular jelly beans (these cost less than jelly bellys). You also have a choice of life savers. There are the easier-to-find mint life savers that are individually wrapped in a bag. The bagged life savers are larger than the mint life savers that you can find in a roll at Dollar Tree. The roll of life savers is cheaper than the bagged life savers but they are smaller (however you don't have to unwrap each one).

You can put the candy pacifiers in a bowl on the food table since all the ingredients are edible. You can decorate other foods with the candy pacifiers. This picture shows them on top of little cupcakes.

You can put several candy pacifiers in a bag to give as a favor at a baby shower or baby gender reveal party

You can tie a ribbon on the candy pacifiers and use them as a party table decoration scattered like confetti on a food table. These are very inexpensive to make so be extravagant with them! Think of more uses these cute little pacifiers.
