I've never made a quilt in my life, but I'm beyond infatuated with the quilted trend floating into fashion pieces these days (and if Rachel Zoe says quilting is cool, who am I to argue?) For those of us who can't afford a Chanel bag, we have to create our own alternative, no? Up-cycling a sweater with dimensional quilting is a great way to transform an old piece with a new trend. Cut 2-3 inch circles. I used close to 60.
Beginning at center front, tack circles to top so folded edges alternate in direction.
One row at a time, pin circles on each side to keep in place. Attach circles to top by stitching down center of row.
Repeat for remaining rows.
Top-stitch crosswise over all rows to finish quilting.
Done.
Make a statement.
