Choose a spot for your pet garden. I chose this tree because the dogs have pretty much already claimed it.
Decide how big you want your garden to be. The blocks I have are 6" x 8" so I decided to do two long and two wide. That requires 8 bricks. 2 bricks per 4 sides. Before you go setting up your bricks, decide if you want to decorate them.
Decorating your bricks can be as simple or as complicated as you like. I decided to print on card stock and cut out the image to make a stencil to trace around but if you want to paint your bricks by hand or buy stencils from the store, do what makes you happy!!! Another option is to use an exacto knife to cut out the image on the paper to make a negative and put that on the brick to spray paint the image on.
Once the paint on your bricks has dried, you can lay them out. Put potting soil in the holes and add the grass seed. Parsley is also good for dogs, so I decided to plant some parsley too. (It's good for bad doggy breath.) This side is for my Min Pin, Maggie.
I decided I didn't want to plant anything in the very center of the brick formation because the dogs would just dig it up anyways so it is going to be for outdoor dog toy storage. You may have a better idea so get creative!! Another alternative is rocks in the center but please make sure your dogs aren't rock eaters first!!!
Hopefully the time and energy put into your pet garden shows your pets how much you love and appreciate them. Maybe they'll even leave your plants alone!! This side is for my Pomeranian, Chase. More pics to come once the grass and parsley start growing!!
