well we had a harry potter party for the last harry potter film(it was amazing) and my task was to dress up as draco malfoy.i wore my uncannily-similar-to-slytherins school uniform and made this cloak. best idea ever. i am now planning to make a more complicated gryfinndor one :) ps house colours= gryffindor- Red, Yellow Slytherin- green, grey ravenclaw- blue, brown hufflepuff- yellow, black

Instructions

  1. Small cut fabric 1311106842

take your 2 peices of coloured fabric in the house colours (these will look sort of like a scarve on the front edge of the cloak). cut one wider than the other so you will be able to see both coulers dont make them too thick as this will look weird.

  2. Small overlapped 1311106916

    you can cut the scarvey bits in any shape but i find a curved edge looks really effective. make sure they overlap like this;

  3. Small pin 1311107293

next you need to pin a 1cm hem along the CURVED edges of both peices of fabric ready for attaching to the black peice of fabric.

  4. Small sew hem yellow 1311107615

now sew along the curved hems on each peice of coloured fabric trying to keep the line straight and consistent. once you have finished sewing remove the pins.

  5. Small red black 1311107885

take your biggest peice of fabric and lay it over the 2 metre edge of the black fabric so the edges match. pin in down so the fabrics wont shift when being sewn. the flat top of this must be pinned with the black edge next to it so they are hemmed together

  6. Small sew to black 1311141994

now sew along your flat edge so the peice is finally attached to the black bit. then sew along the curved line trying to keep to the original line you have sewn.

  7. Small sewed too 1311146365

next reapeat the last 2 step except with the smaller peice so they overlap.

  8. Small pin it 1311146245

now you need to pin all of the edges of the black fabric. (1cm) Now do the same to the decorative fabric

  9. Small black decor 1311146152

now sew the black fabric to the decorative (lining )fabric. the decorative fabric can be fur, velvet or just pretty cotton but it needs to look different to the black front of cloak.

  10. sew the decor fabric and the black fabric with there wrong sides facing each other so you will not have to turn it inside out.

  11. now you are done if you like sew the house badge on the front but i have not done this.
