Description

Having trouble finding a cute, simple, and romantic way to ask your special someone to prom/homecoming? Here's what I did:

Instructions

  1. You want to choose a nice spot that's secluded and that other people or animals can't really get to. (You don't want any one stealing your invite!) I chose my backyard just because it's simple and my date wouldn't be able to see it when he pulled into the driveway.

  2. Small setting up1

Go ahead and get out your candle holders. I got mine from Dollar General so they don't have to be super expensive. You will want a decent amount of them just so that the idea of fireflies is understood. Mine were glass and I got them each for a dollar. You're going to set them up randomly around your spot of choice.

  3. Small setting up2

Take out your poster board and cut out a medium sized rectangle. Make sure it's large enough so that you can spell out prom/homecoming with a question mark.

  4. Small setting up3

In the top two corners of your sign, cut a hole and tie your yarn around them. Then, find a nice place to hand it that's nearby your candle holders.

  5. Small setting up4

I waited a little while for it to get a little darker so that the liquid in the glow sticks would last longer. Feel free to get all dolled up while you wait.

  6. Small setting up5

When it's just dark enough for you to start getting ready but still light enough to wear you don't need a flashlight, start activating your glow sticks. You'll only need one stick per candle holder. I suggest getting the necklace sized glow sticks instead of the big chunky ones you'd bring to a party like I used. Mine took forever to cut open!

  7. Small setting up6

Cut each glow stick over their own candle holder so that the liquid inside doesn't spill all over the ground. Shake the leftover glow around you to make it look light more fireflies.

  8. Small light up the night

Now you're done! Wait until it's super dark outside. I turned on the lights just for the picture's sake but keep them out when you bring your date out there! Blindfold your date or just say "No peeking!" and guide him/her to the spot. Come up with something cute to say like "Will you light up the night with me?" and let them look around. Have a magical night a prom, beauties!!! ;)
