some lolita clothes have a shirred panel with lacing over the top, and most of the time the ribbon is laced through some scalloped lace. but if that lace breaks, you've got a problem. here's a simple (not the only, but possibly the quickest) solution.
some lolita clothes have a shirred panel with lacing over the top, and most of the time the ribbon is laced through some scalloped lace. but if that lace breaks, you've got a problem. here's a simple (not the only, but possibly the quickest) solution.
when the lace used to thread the ribbon is too flimsy, or just can't stand the tension, it will break. this leaves you with messy lacing.
simply remove the ribbon and carefully cut of the lace loops so you are left with two strips of flat lace running either side, this way you don't have the messy broken loops hanging around, without loosing that decorative quality.
get an eye that matches the color of your skirt. for light skirts, silver and for dark skirts, black. sew it on so the lace just overlaps it, exposing the loop.
repeat this in all the spots where the lacing originally was.
finally, lace it back up. you may or may not want to replace the ribbon all together, depending on whether you like the one you've got already.
