Enough paying carpet cleaners or carpet repairs. Now you can achieve the same results on your own!

I’ve always thought that repairing a burnt carpet is a job for professionals. With a smoker in the family, burn marks are everywhere -- in the car, on the sofas, on the carpet, etc. We spent lots of money on professional carpet cleaners to remove burnt spots, when actually it turns out that the method of fixing them is so simple that any housewife would hack it easily. Knowing how people used to clean their carpets before, we are lucky to live in a century when we have all the tools needed to do things in an easy and practical way at home.

Instructions

  1. Small 108688 2f2015 04 28 190123 carpet burnt spot

Grab the scissors and cut the melted piece of carpet plastic out. All of the burnt area should be gone, and if you think you are cutting too much of the carpet -- no worries, all of it will be covered up later.

  2. Small 108688 2f2015 04 28 190159 carpet scissors

Find a strand of carpet that is sticking out, pull it until you have the needed amount and cut it in the base. You don’t want to ruin the undamaged part of the carpet, so look for a string at those parts of the carpet covered by furniture, located in the corners or hidden behind the bed.

  3. Small 108688 2f2015 04 28 190233 carpet pile2

Cut the strands into 1 cm long pieces and make a pile large enough to cover the damaged spot.

  4. Small 108688 2f2015 04 28 190311 carpet superglue

Apply a small amount of superglue to the bottom of the burn hole and add about a half of your pile to the glue. Push it down with the handles of a pair of scissors or with your tweezers. Hold on a minute to dry and gently pull the excess carpet strands off.

  5. Small 108688 2f2015 04 28 190440 carpet fixed

Repeat the previous step again, but apply an extremely small amount of glue this time. Rub it around and press down the rest of the strands. Give it a minute to dry and cut with your scissors the final layer so that it becomes even to the surface. That’s ALL!
