Try using two or three strands of yarn, that should make a thicker scarf

Yes you have to lift each lower loop off each finger but you can do it one at a time. And yes you wrap it around the thumb to start the under and over wrapping again.

Pixi .C,
Sorry this step is confusing you, let me try to help.
So lets start at step three, you have the yarn going under your pointer finger, over your middle finger, under your ring finger and over your pinky finger. Now you take the yarn under your pinky finger, over your ring finger, under your middle finger and over your pointer finger once that is done you should have one loop of yarn around each finger. If you repeat the over and under steps you should come out with two loops over each finger.
Now you need to take the bottom "over" loop on the pinky finger and lift it over the top loop and off your finger, repeat with your other fingers so you have only one loop on each finger.
I hope this helped! If not please tell me what exactly is confusing you Happy

samantha, you only need about half a skane of yarn, really not that much.
Clarissa, I'm not sure if that would work, just because it wouldn't fit on your fingers. If you want it fuller you can add another strand of yarn, most of the time I use two strands of yarn for my scarves. Good luck Happy

Hmm... If I wanted a thicker scarf... Do you think I could use the finished product and do the process all over again?

Awesomeee. I read how to finger knit a while ago but I don't know how much yarn to use for a scarf. Because if I don't cut it, it's kinda weird to use.

Yeah that's fine, its just because the distance between your thumb and your other fingers is bigger. I'm glad you like it Happy

Hey, I love this how-to.
I've tried doing it but I don't know if i'm doing it right. It goes really loose at the end where I've attached it to my thumb. It looks ok later on but I'm just not sure if I'm doing it right.
