Download the ball pattern. Cut out pattern and pin it to the white felt, cut around the pattern (you need to cut out 3 pieces from the white felt) Pin pattern to red felt and do the same. Now you have 6 pieces, 3 white, 3 red.
Sew all the sides of the white pieces to one another, then start sewing the red pieces to the white. You can hand sew the pieces or you can use a sewing machine.
If your using a sewing machine you want to set the stitch to a ‘zigzag stich’ so that it seals the corners, you also want to set the zigzag stich at a small setting so it doesn’t eat too much into the ball.
Sew right on the edge for a smooth finish.
When sewing the red parts together you need to change the thread colour to red so that when you turn the ball inside out white thread doesn’t show through (don’t forget to change the bobbin too), it’s fine to leave the thread white/red when sewing a white and red piece of felt together because you will be covering that later with the Pokéball detail.
As you sew on each new piece your ball should be starting to look a bit like a star. When sewing the last piece together you want to leave a gap about 3-4 cm, this is so you can turn it inside out.
Turn ball inside out and stuff with polly fill/cotton wool/ bits of material (anything soft!) You want to stuff it pretty tight so that it looks like a ball and holds its shape.
After its filled, sew up the opening.
Using scraps from the black and white felt, cut out a long strip (measure around the ball) and 3 circle, sew the strip and circles around and onto the ball. If you like you can use glue instead of sewing.
Your done!! Now go catch some Pokémon!
