Procreate comes with a few color palettes and a color wheel to slide around to choose a color. The color wheel is cool but it can be difficult to get the exact color you want over and over. When I learned it’s possible to create your own palettes I was thrilled, and even more so when I realized it was simple. What makes creating your own color palettes possible is the eye dropper tool. You hold your finger down over the color you want and the eye dropper with a circle holding the color picks up that color to use!

When I learned it’s possible to create your own palettes I was thrilled, and even more so when I realized it was simple. What makes creating your own color palettes possible is the eye dropper tool. To create your own color palette Find a picture with the colors you want. It can be from Pinterest or a website like design-seeds and save it to your iPad.
Open a new canvas in procreate. Click the wrench tool in the upper left corner and import your picture.
Go to the color picker and choose palette
In the top right corner will be a “+” sign to create a new palette, tap that. Anew palette will open and is ready for you to name it.
Once named, go back to the color picker circle. Under the circle will be blank squares for your new palette
Tap and hold your finger on your color of choice until the circle with that color shows up. This is the eye dropper tool.
Go to your blank palette and tap a square. Your new color is there to be used!
Repeat until you have your personalized palette filled with the colors you want! You can delete the imported image or save it, it’s up to you! Did you know creating your own palette was so easy? Have you created any of your own palettes?
