How To Bone A Whimzy

My first how-to so I figured I'd keep it simple. This is just an example of how to customize a smaller, pre-sewn doll and in this case, I had used a Whimzy Pet to do the job. I was required for a project to have a great deal of small rabbits for a diorhama. This is my tutorial on how to make a small pre-sewen doll not only customized but also able to be posed.

Instructions

1. 

   Take your small plush and cut a hole in its butt! This is where you are going to insert the wire.

2. 

   Take that wire and make it into a Y shape with a long bottom. These will be the arms and legs. Y is the arms and the bottom is the legs.

3. 

   Insert the Y part first and feed the wire up through the hole in the butt.

4. 

   Cross the arms to keep the wires in place while you do the same for the legs, otherwise, the wires may shift too much. Insert the legs left side first and then right.

5. 

   Stuff a bit of fluff in there to cushion the wires you just inserted. You only need a small amount of fiberfill here and you can use a chopstick to push fluff up into the hands and feet, as the wire may push the fluff out initially. Then use your needle and thread to close the hole.

6. 

   Technically, you can be done now. You've put in the wires and closed the holes after re-stuffing so now you should be able to freely pose your plush and have it hold it's form.

7. 

   But why stop there when you can paint and further customize it! I needed bunnies of all different colors and the company I bought these from only makes them in white. I used fabric paint, only severely watered it down so that it colored without hardening the fur. After letting it dry for 24 hours, stick them through a wash cycle in a pillow case. Now, you're done!
