The design I used was based off a purse I have seen at a local store. I changed the look and the design to make it even better. I'll add the pattern in a bit, if needed.

cut out the head and bangs, body and belly. When using leather there is a grain so I stretched the fabric of the head on the grain to shape it a bit.
plan out where you want the pieces. don't forget to cut out the underside of the horse to give it dimension. Also there will be a zipper that will need to be placed along the back of the horse, and it's tail is the zipper pull.
then sew it at the edges using the blanket stitch.
before sewing the head sew the insert, and body pieces together. cut out the hair and tail before sewing the head.
sew he head from one ear to the other leaving open a space to add a stiffener and stuffing. tack the placement of the head to the body before stuffing and stiffening.
after stuffing stiffening and placing the head onto the leather blanket stitch it together as well as adding the hair as you close the opening.
add details with Painters markers ( the markers can be found at walmart, and they are permanent.). paint on the eyes in black then add white for cute shine. paint the ears brown then outline it with black. draw and color the nostrils and hooves.
sew the tassel tail to the zipper before inserting zipper and lining. The lining (Optional) is just the body pieces, and the belly turned inside out. sew the blanket stitch around the opening of the purse, then sew in he zipper by stitching the lining and zipper to the blanket stitched edges. And you are done congratulations on your new farm friend! :)
