Honeydukes' Sugar Quill Ornaments

You will need

1 package of large white Feather(s) PVA Glue A little Water 1 Foam Brush Ribbon Small Pearl Beads Ultra-fine Glitter in lavender Hot Glue Gun Glue Stick Newspaper

Description

This project was made for the November 2008 Craft-Along on The Leaky Cauldron.

Instructions

1. Spread the newspaper out on your table and lay the feathers you wish to turn into sugar quills on it.

2. Thin down the glue with a little water until it is milk-like in consistency, mixing with the foam brush.

3. Carefully brush the watered down glue on the feathers, making sure to follow the direction of the fibers.

4. Sprinkle the glitter over the feathers, then move them onto a clean sheet of newspaper to dry.

5. Once dry, move the feathers back to the original sheet of paper and repeat the process for the other side.

6. Tie 8" pieces of ribbon into bows, leaving about a 3" loop for hanging your ornament.

7. Glue the ribbon onto the pointed end of the feather, then glue a pearl bead over the knot of the bow.

8. Hang on your tree and watch them sparkle - but don't make the mistake of chomping down on them!
