About
I started off by unhinging the lid
then I ripped off the ugly gold edging
although I kept the original fabric as a template for the new fabric.
I used Hot glue because it doesn't alter the framework of the box.
You can use a nail gun but this particular box was made with particle board.
I then primed painted and polyurethane the legs. I'm a messy painter so I chose to do this before the fabric was put on.
After the paint FINALLY dried, I measured the fabric for the lid.
there were two parts to the lid so I took the inside part off. Covered and glued it then I did the outside. I glued them together.
I also made sure to keep track of where the holes were for the hinges and then put the hinges back on.
Finally I started with the back top and then proceeded with the bottom never forgetting to keep the fabric tight so It doesn't bunch or wrinkle. Once it was dry I glued on the edging, making sure it was straight.
For the inside I used a regular pillow case and took the stuffing out of old pillow cases from salvation army. I stuffed it till it was nice and plump and then I sewed in a zipper at the opening and put it inside.
and Voilà...a cat bed (or dog)
