Learn how to make a creamy facial cleansing balm with shea butter and hemp seed oil. This is a nourishing cleanser that won't leave your skin extremely dry but it won't leave any greasy residue either! It's perfect for daily use and it comes together easily. A few drops of lemongrass essential oil will leave a gentle uplifting scent on your skin, but you can easily omit it or use your favorite essential oil instead!

Prepare a water bath: add 3cm/1” of water to a wide pan on low-medium heat. Bring the water to simmer. In the meantime, weigh ingredients in a heat-resistant measuring cup. Place the cup into a water-bath (bain-marie) to melt the ingredients (about 15-20 minutes). When fully melted, remove the cup from the water bath.
Take another pan/bowl, and fill it with cold water (3cm/1” will do). Place the cup with the melted ingredients into the water and stir it slowly. We want it to cool down before adding the last 3 ingredients (essential oils and vitamin E oil). This cooling-down should take about 5-10 minutes.
Once the balm has thickened a bit and cooled down, add essential oils and vitamin E oil. Next, stir the mixture well and pour it into a dry, clean container. Let it completely cool until you close the lid. The recipe makes about 45g.
To use, take about 1/2 teaspoon of the balm with clean, dry hands from the jar. Since the balm doesn't contain any preservatives, it will grow mold and bacteria if you splash it with water.
