A while ago, my friend sold me this skirt which is a replica of Pngelic Pretty's Milky-chan of the Fawn Skirt. It was missing some details though, so I decided to treat it as a blank canvas for my own personal alterations! so I'm doing a series of tutorials to show you how to do this yourself. This tutorial is based on others I have seen, but is modified to be even easier and cuter!

Instructions

  1. Small dscf0572

We're going to start by making a template. Fold an A4 piece of paper and folding it over. Draw half a heart like so:

  2. Small dscf0573

cut it out and unfold, adjust if necessary Now you should have a whole heart shape.

  3. Small dscf0574

Pin to 2 layers of fabric for each pocket. I'm making 2 here so that's 4 layers. Cut out with a seam allowance.

  4. Small dscf0744

Sew 2 heart pieces together leaving a gap for turning.

  5. Small dscf3485

Cut into the seam allowances all around like this:

  6. Small dscf3486

turn and iron. Pin to mark where you want each pocket to open.

  7. Small dscf3487

Top stitch around the top, starting at one pin and ending at the other.

  8. Small dscf3488

Select a button and sew a buttonhole on each pocket according to your machine's guidelines (alternatively, hand sew it).

  9. Small dscf3489

Position the pockets on the skirt and pin.

  10. Small dscf3490

Top stitch up to the stitching you made for the opening, closing the turning gap in the process.

  11. Small dscf3491

Sew on the button of your choice (do this before sewing on the pocket if your machine can do this for you!)
