Headbands
Feathers, lace and ribbons oh my!

About
These are some of the assorted headbands that I've made in the last few months. They were all fairly easy to make and don't really require a how to, but I thought I'd share a few details on how I made some of the more complex ones. And I was feeling to lazy to make separate tutorials.

I saw this cute lace covered headband at Target, but I wasn't going to pay $8 for something I knew I could make myself. I bought this green one at the dollar store and used some lace I had left over from my parasol.

The hardest part was getting the lace to not move while gluing it down on the under side of the band. And keeping the glue from getting to lumpy was a pain.
Then I glued a strip of ribbon down over the lace to cover the edges and glue.

This one didn't come out the way I wanted it to in the slightest. I was trying to get a kind of corset look, but that wasn't working out. I still love it.

I glued two skinny headbands together at the ends. Then I wove skinny white ribbon around the bands. I was trying to keep some space between the bands with the ribbon weaving between. But the ribbon kept pulling the bands together, or the ribbon would be to loose in some places and kept falling low on the bands. So I pulled it all tight.

For the flower piece, I used the same white ribbon. I glue loop over loop until I had a full looking flower. Then I glued a broken clip-on earring in the middle. I glued the flower piece to a chunk of stiff purple tulle, then I glued it to the headband.

This one was the biggest pain. I wanted the loops, or petals, to be perfectly even and the same size. It took a lot of practice to get it just right. I made five or six of these before I got it right. I made this the same way as the headband above. Just with much more even and precisely glued petals.

This one I based off a band my BFF bought me. I took the white satin and glued the end to a white felt circle. Then I folded a pleat, then glued it down. I did that all the way around the felt. Then I got some black tulle, and did the same thing. After the tulle, I did another layer of white satin, another layer of tulle, and a final layer of satin. Then I glued a large button in the middle, then glued the back of the felt circle to the headband.

For this band, I took a fake flower and glued all the flower pieces together, the leaf, the petals and the pollen parts. I glued all the petals so they lay evenly against each other. Then I glued in three little feathers in the middle, then glued it onto the band.

The rest of the bands in the main images were very simple to do. Just gluing the focal point to the band. Except for the animal prints. I hand sewed the bows and just slid the band through the loop in the middle.
