Remove the book cover. Fold each page of the book in half, towards the spine. Cut the cardboard so that it's a bit bigger than the altered book is when it's laid flat. Paint the cardboard. Stick the book in place. Make the man out of air dry clay. Offer him up to the gap where his head will go into the book to make sure it fits and also that his knees are in contact with the base. Let him dry, then stick him in place.
