Gather materials. About 12" of stretch ribbon and about 10" of chain should do. Make sure to take your own measurements...everyone's head is a different size :)
After cutting ribbon and twisting off the chain that you need, lay it out to make sure it's the look you're going for.
Begin sewing chain onto the ribbon, making sure the chain is on the velvet side. Secure the first link with several stitches.
Continue to sew chain onto the ribbon. We used about 2 stitches per link.
Once you get to the end, secure the chain with a couple of stitches. Then cut off excess thread. The chain doesn't need to appear perfectly straight when you're sewing it on. Since the ribbon is stretch, it'll pull the chain to make the perfect headband.
We didn't do a very good job measuring, and our headband was a little small. We cut a 4" piece of ribbon to sew on as an extension.
Simply lay the extra piece of ribbon overlapping about an inch and prepare to stitch it on.
Now sew both ends of the stretch ribbon together. It's always best to stitch all around, forming a square of stitches. Make sure this is secure.

Now try it on!
Rock it!
