It was a part of Harley's own comic series, "Harley Quinn!" I got doubles of the issues I wanted to cut up. In the future, I might make copies of the pages I want to cut up and cut up the copies so I don't have to get two books!
I made these three years ago and they're still going strong I wear them once in a while and make sure not to step in deep puddles - however, they should be weather resistant because of the outdoor mod podge you put to seal it in.
I'm not a huge fan of comics, but I love anime, so if I ever have the time to make these, I'll be using manga pages! Or pictures I find online of my favorite anime characters and stuff. LOVE this idea, though!
Abbie H: I got mine at Michael's, my local craft store. If you do not have a craft/art store near you, try finding it online. I used "OUTDOOR MOD PODGE", and the smallest container should do the trick for you! Hope that helped, but if not, feel free to ask more questions.
Teehee It's MeeMee, thank you so much! Your compliment means a lot to me!
This is a reeaaallllyyy basic question but I've never ever heard of modge podge, and have never seen it anywhere and loads of the cool tutorials seem to use it! I've googled it a few times and there seem to be loads of brands and variations and I'm so lost at all the different prices! Which do you lot use??
omg I just got a pain of those exact same shoes (total coincidence)! Faded Glory I think and i'm just about to start mine as well. thx for posting this!
Just wanted to let you know that I bought Fabric Mod Podge to make a wallet, and fix my shoes, and it works better then the regular kind [especially if you're doing regular shoes] because they actually bend. =]

Harlee S. - The Outdoor Mod Podge I used didn't crack as badly as you've described. Make sure the shoes are well-fitting, and preferably already broken-in, and apply at LEAST three coats, letting them dry well between coats and for three days after the last coat. After multiple times wearing them, my shoes only ripped a little bit on one side and it was easily fixed with more layers of mod podge Hope that helps!
I made tennis shoe ones of Harley Quinn and the first time I wore them they cracked up the sides of both of them. Do you know of anything that would glue it on there but also be bendy so it wont crack?
My shoes have been worn quite a bit and on one side of one of my shoes it IS starting to crack a little. (I think it's the way I stand/distribute my weight though, so make sure your shoes are fitting well!) To fix it, I just put on more Mod podge and everything was fine. I recommend putting on another coat every few months, depending on how often they are worn. The type of mod podge I use is "Outdoors" - it's with the green label and has worked great.
To change the bow, I simply ripped off the old one (well, cut it, I think) and then made new ones out of ribbon and hot glued them on.
Please let me know if you have any more questions! I'd love to see your completed projects too
Yea, I made tank girl ones (Using the same shoe as you) but some corners of the pieces of paper won't stay on and are starting to pull up! I used normal mod podge as well as hard coat mod podge, but neither seem to be doing the trick. Please help
So I read through the comments and there are a few people who seem to have problems with the shoes cracking, I am in the processes of making my own watchmen shoes, but I was wondering if after when I am done with the mod podge and the shoes are dry, if it would help to paint a few coats of varnish on it? Or do you think they would crack even more?
Hey there! I made a pair like this, but after only a couple of wears, they are splitting and peeling!! Have you had this problem? My shoes were very plastic-y and the paper was a bit thick, but i cant stand to see them destroyed Just hoping that you had some ideas...?
This is beyond amazing! I can not wait to try this myself. I hope copy paper works, because I can't bring myself to ruin my comics. Thanks for the idea!
Aw, I'm sorry you're having troubles with your shoes, So Lala! I had a bit of a hard time there as well; You just need to make sure to put a good amount of Mod Podge there and smooth it out as best as you can. Make sure your pieces fit well, too, because that helps tremendously!
yay, i´m doing these right now with your instructions!!! i had some problems with the curved bottom of the shoe, it doesn´t stick there... hope it will be fine!!!
Thanks for letting me know, zombiewander! They look great
Brittany, it depends what kind of comic you get. Since this one was kind of old, it was more like newspaper. Most of the newer ones have better quality paper.
Hello, I loved your shoes and made my own version of them! But for some reason when I published it, it is linked to a different comic shoe.
But I totally followed your instructions!
Here are my shoes: http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/comic_shoes/versions/1
Yes, KelliMarin, they are definitely wearable! I wore them all day and they did not harden nor break. I will expect to touch up areas with mod podge as time passes, but I've worn them all day before quite comfortably & easily.
Ah! Thank you for posting this! i have a pair of terrible converse knock-offs that i've been wanting to do something with for the longest time!!!
These are just adorable!
Aaahh, this is brilliant. Thanks for this, I'll definitely be doing it soon. Got a pair of ballet flats that are really ugly and I've GOT to do something to them. xD <3
Tine, I know! It was really hard to cut up my comic for this, even though I had two of the same thing and just used one of them. Next time, I'll just make copies of them at the copy shop
Mod Podge is a paste-like substance that can be used as both a sealant and a glue. It can be found in many craft stores or online. Here is the website for it: http://www.plaidonline.com/apmp.asp
If you are going to do this project, just remember that I used Outdoor Mod Podge to help it last longer! (They have many different kinds.)
Cat, I totally wanted to photocopy mine, too, but there was a sale and I was impatient... cutting this one up (even though I had another one of the same thing) was still painful! :'( But in the end it was worth it
This is fabulous
Teehee It's MeeMee, thank you so much! Your compliment means a lot to me!
Aine H - I think Mod Podge will HAVE to be used here, sorry. You can try the other stuff if you like, or maybe order some mod podge online?
Harlee S. -- Thanks! Glad it worked out
Cara F. -- Haha, that's funny! Glad you like it
but i don't think i wud be able to get my hands on the mod podge, could u just use LOADS of pva glue or super glue?
=D

Plan to make these in the future.

One question,
What is Mod Podge?
