Lavender Drawer Sachets

About
A great idea for a Mother's Day gift or birthday for the women in your life! Easy homemade project for beginner sewers like me. Lavender is a natural stress reliever, relaxant, and moth repellent. It's great for freshening your drawers, car, closets, bathroom, etc.

You Will Need (7 things)
- 1 Piece Paper
- Iron (Optional)
- Ribbon (Optional)
- Needle And Thread Or Sewing Machine
- Lavender
- Handkerchief
- Measuring Cup
Steps (10 steps, 30 minutes)
-
1
Gather your old handkerchiefs (I found all of mine at thrift/antique shops for cheap). I also did some with just plain old fabric scraps and after sewing all four sides used my pinking shears around the edges.
-
2
Lay material flat and iron out any wrinkles.
-
3
Fold in half and then in half again to form a square.
-
4
Sew three sides and about half of the fourth. Leave an opening so you can fill with lavender.

Bought this large bag of lavender on the Internet to fill my sachets. I made a lot of sachets and haven't even used all of it yet!

Here is the opening I left on the handkerchief in order to fill with the lavender.

Take a regular piece of paper and roll it into a cone. You will use this as your funnel for the lavender. Insert into handkerchief and fill. I used a little less than 3/4 of a cup for each. You don't want to over fill because you still need room to sew them shut. Once filled, sew remaining opening.

This is how they look finished.

I put them together in sets of two and four but you could do as many as you like. Tie ribbon around both sides and you're done!
