I made this heel to decorate my mom's birthday cake. Fondant could also be used for this project, I just happened to have gum paste at the time I made this. This was my first attempt at making shoes, but tried to cover up any mistakes as best as I could.

make a heel shape on the wooden skewer leaving 2 inches of the skewer at the bottom of the heel. At the top of the heel, it should be thicker and make an oval to support the shoe sole. Stick your heel on the foam and let it dry for about 4-8 hours or until firm.
After the heel is firm you can start working on the shoe sole. On the foam plate, draw the shape of a shoe sole and cut out the template.
roll out your gum paste and use the shoe sole to guide you to cut the gum paste.
lightly wet the oval part of the heel and add the shoe sole.
Place some wax paper on the foam and shape your shoe sole. Let it firm up so it won't fall apart when you are working on the rest of the details.
I made a strip of gum paste for the back of the shoe and glued it on with a bit of water. make another shoe sole, a different color this time, cut the part where the toes would go and glue it on the shoe.
With the smaller part of this tool I made marks all around the white sole so it gave the impression of a seam.
I cut a strip of pink and two white ones for the top part of the shoe and cut any extra on the sides. I added some more pink gum paste at the toe area and made some seam marks on it as well.
Added a bow.
made a white strip to cover up where the heel and the top part of the shoe start. I thought it looked cleaner this way.
