About
This is good for holding a small present (we used this bag for a wallet), but could be adapted to hold candy or heavier gift by using card stock or cardboard.
This particular bag was made entirely out of scraps and stuff left over from last year, but if you wanted to go fancy, you could buy scrapbook paper and embellish with other items, such as using crochet thread, dental floss, yarn, etc. for the strings.

Use a CD or a DVD for to make the basic template. I drew around a CD and then overlapped it a bit and drew around it again for the basic shape.
To know where the center is for where you will end up cutting your hold in the bottom part, draw around the inside circle on the bottom half.
I cut down the top part by about 1/4 of an inch all the way around to make it more the shape of a guitar.

Choose what image you want on your bag, for the front I used a picture out of a magazine and for the back and sides just a scrap piece of white paper.
Use the template to trace the image on the WRONG side of the paper that you want to use.
To know where to put the center of the guitar on the front, you can use pressure with a pen and it will make an outline, or you could but the CD/DVD on the paper and use that instead.
If you are going to decorate and embellish this would be the best time to do so.
This is the back of the bag. It is embellished with a scrap of wrapping paper.

To make paper strings, just cut 6 small strips of paper that are about 10 inches long. I used a gray piece out of magazine page to make the strings.
For the base to attach the paper strings,
I used a blue piece of paper from a magazine page that I used to make the scratch plate.
Glue the strings to the bottom piece.
Glue the bottom piece to the front of the guitar and glue or tape the top strings inside the front part of the bag.

For the front of the guitar, cut circle about 2 inches wide where you marked earlier.
Make a scratch plate by matching up the hole you made in the guitar (draw on the inside center then make a shape like this.

This is what the front of the bag looked like when completed (sorry, but I didn't take pictures as I went along, this is the finished bag).

You next want to cut the side - to determine the width decide how wide you want the bag to be, then and 1/2 inch. The length I suggest to be 18 inches then cut it down to size when you get to the final edge.
Fold the edge of each side of the paper up approx 1/4 of an inch on each side.

7
You next want make small cuts in each side of the strip at about 1/2 inch intervals.

This is the tricky part. First shape the paper around the front of the guitar then cut to the length that you want.
Next, use the glue stick or glue to glue all the way around and let dry for a few minutes and then do the same thing with the back side, gluing each mini piece of the strip from the side where you have cut at intervals to the back.

The final step is to tape the ribbon to the side of the bag. You could also staple it and you could use fabric or even another piece of paper instead of ribbon if you like.

You can either wrap the present or stuff in tissue paper or just stuff it in the top.
